dc.description.abstract"Este estudio presenta una metodología para abordar el desafío de demostrar objetivamente los Servicios Hidrológicos Ecosistémicos (EHS). Se utiliza un estudio de caso en la región de la Península de La Guajira (Colombia), con un enfoque en el EHS de la regulación del caudal de agua. La metodología hipotetiza que los EHS que no han sido demostrados objetivamente conducen a fallas en la implementación de los lineamientos de Pagos por Servicios Ecosistémicos (PSA). Siguiendo esta idea, hemos tratado de comprender y cuantificar la relación entre la cobertura vegetal y la regulación del caudal. relación y la existencia del mencionado EHS en el Ecosistema de La Guajira, determinamos los cambios en la cobertura terrestre de 2000 a 2013 utilizando el Índice de Vegetación de Diferencia Normalizada (NDVI), y también cuantificamos elregulación del caudal mediante series de tiempo hidrológicas y meteorológicas en el área de estudio. Los métodos de análisis utilizados fueron insuficientes para determinar la influencia de la vegetación en la regulación hídrica EHS; sin embargo, se observó una mayor influencia de la morfometría en cuencas de mediano y gran tamaño. Otro hallazgo importante muestra la relevancia de seleccionar una resolución espacial y temporal adecuada a la hora de cuantificar los servicios de regulación del caudal de agua y su relación con las características de la cobertura terrestre. De esta forma, este ejercicio muestra la complejidad de cuantificar EHS. Además, destacamos algunos aspectos que se deben tener en cuenta para cuantificar adecuadamente la regulación de los caudales por cobertura vegetal ”.spa
dc.description.abstractenglishThis study presents a methodology to address the challenge of objectively demonstrating Ecosystem Hydrological Services (EHS). A case study is used in the region of the La Guajira Peninsula (Colombia), with a focus on the EHS of water flow regulation. The proposed methodology hypothesizes that EHS that have not been objectively demonstrated lead to failures in the implementation of guidelines of Payments for Ecosystem Services (PES). Following this idea, we have tried to understand and quantify the relationship between vegetation coverage and streamflow regulation. To prove this relationship and the existence of the mentioned EHS in the La Guajira Ecosystem, we determined land cover changes from 2000 to 2013 using the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), and we also quantified thestreamflow regulation using hydrological and meteorological time series in the study area. The analysis methods used were insufficient to determine the influence of vegetation on hydric regulation EHS; nevertheless, a greater influence of morphometry was observed in medium-and large-sized basins. Another important finding shows the relevance of selecting an adequate spatial and time resolution when quantifying water flow regulation services and its relationship with land cover characteristics. In this way, this exercise shows the complexity of quantifying EHS.
