El Cairo, Valle del Guamuéz municipality, seventh grade students, whose ages range between twelve and sixteen, show little interest in acquiring a reading habit due to the socioeconomic context in which they develop and the low structuring a life project focused on academic improvement, students give priority to the acquisition of economic benefits, leaving aside school activities that allow you to improve your performance and influence the immense range of possibilities for progress academically and financially. Faced with this problem, the PIE is oriented, in some way, to provide tools that allow the student to make an informed decision regarding aspects such as the acquisition of a reading habit that improve their academic performance and focus on school more than the economic. To this end, activities are established to change the way of thinking facing the importance and benefits of reading in such a complicated socioeconomic environment as in which they develop. Among the activities to be carried out, a visit to the municipal library, choice of books according to their age and interest, reading days, among others.
