Sede Bogotá., ) Riascos Reyes, María Fernanda,; Sosa Collazos, Leydy Katherine;; Roberto Tinoco, William,The purpose of this research is the identification of the types of symbolic interactionism that Facebook memes generate among tenth grade teenagers of tenth grade of a district school in the city of Bogota by using a mixed methodology implemented by means of a survey and a workshop; the former as a method of quantitative collection in order to identify the teenagers preferred contents, and the latter as a qualitative data collection tool to analyze the kind of use they make of the aforementioned memes in their daily life, the sample consists of 23 students ranging in ages between 15 and 18. The results show that all subjects currently own an active account in the social network Facebook, and that among them the most popular and looked for content are memes. Therefore, it was evident that some of the symbolic interactions between teenagers in the classroom emerge out of this kind of content since it strengthens the meaning of experiences they have in common, and because the content evokes situations they relate to; in the same way, spoken and body language get modified during interpersonal communication between peers by the use of the meme as a referent.
