- ÍtemUso de machine learning para el análisis de pacientes hospitalizados con COVID-19 durante la entrada de la variante Omicron a Colombia como una herramienta para la toma de decisiones en salud pública(Fundación Universitaria Los Libertadores. Sede Bogotá., ) Reales González, Jhonnatan David; Bonill Valbuena, Ingrid Sabrina; Villarraga Palomino, Jesús AntonioSince the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 in 2019, multiple lineages have been reported globally. The appearance of new mutations has led the WHO to name new variants as variants of concern (VOC) or of interest (VOI) and has called for priority surveillance and analysis of the effect of these variants in different populations. In Colombia, the Omicron variant displaced the VOC Delta from the end of December 2021 and at the beginning of 2022 an increase in hospitalization cases with COVID-19 cases was observed. In order to characterize these patients, a census of patients hospitalized for this cause was carried out in three departments of the country. Molecular tests were performed and epidemiological information, hospitalization and vaccination history were collected and analyzed using machine learning techniques. It was found that, in the post-vaccination stage, the main risk factors were age over 60 years, not having previous immunity and/or having a primary vaccination greater than 200 days without any booster dose. The variants of concern studied here were not associated with disease outcome. Our results demonstrate the usefulness of ML for the characterization of affected populations after the emergence of new variants of concern, necessary for decision-making in public health in a region.
