Cartagena is a city bordered by sea, marshes, lakes and canals, which are mostly contaminated by anthropic actions, such as: inadequate management of solid waste, generated by the inhabitants, due to the lack of environmental culture and education of the same, however it should be noted that the operational failures of the garbage collection companies or companies providing public services such as: However, it is worth mentioning that the operational failures of the companies that collect garbage or provide public services such as aqueduct and sewage, also generate contamination, since they have low coverage in these areas, due to population growth and the settlement of these on the edges of these bodies of water. Therefore, it is necessary to develop educational strategies of environmental education and culture, which help in some way or another to mitigate these polluting agents and tensors such as: bad community practices, inadequate disposal of household waste, construction and demolition waste (CDW), unserviceable and bio- sanitary waste, among others, hence the importance of implementing such strategies, which will generate the strengthening of the population in terms of education and environmental awareness, in addition to conducting awareness campaigns on the pollution of these bodies of water, and the consequences that this generates in human health and welfare. This is why many experts and environmentalists agree that the water ecosystem of the city of Cartagena is in a critical state of contamination due to the lack of control and monitoring by the authorities, institutions and competent entities, in addition to the lack of environmental awareness of the inhabitants
