Sede Bogotá., ) Martínez Mejía, Javier Andrés; Cuervo Gamboa, Luz MarinaThe proposed disciplinary intervention described in this work aims to strengthen the environmentalculture of 8th-2 grade students from the Santo Tomás de Aquino School in the municipality of Titiribí, Antioquia, by implementing a school garden from the perspective of urban agriculture, as a pedagogical strategy that seeks to generate experiential work spaces where students can appropriate knowledge and promote critical reflection on environmental problems related to their context such as land use, food security, use sustainable resources, and healthy lifestyle habits, in order to transform attitudes and capacities that harmonize their relationship with the environment that surrounds them. The proposal is developed in four phases seeking to generate meaningful and contextualized learning for students. In the first phase the activities are planned and the didactic and pedagogical strategies are designed, the second phase develops a diagnosis of the students' prior knowledge and environmental attitudes, the third phase the activities are implemented, the students are trained in urban agriculture and the actions for the construction of the school garden are carried out, and in the fourth phase instruments of evaluation and impact measurement of the strategy are applied. With this type of intervention proposal, students are expected to be aware of and critically address the environmental realities of their context, as well as to contribute to the provisions of the National Environmental Education Policy (2002) “the formation of individuals and groups for responsible decision-making and the rational management of resources within the framework of sustainable development ”.
