Sede Bogotá., ) Martínez Ballesteros, Miryam Milet; Cortes Dussan, German DuglasThe school as an engine of learning processes in the new generations, taking into account the demands of today's society in terms of environmental problems, at the local level seeks to provide viable alternative solutions for the conservation of planet Earth, in this way it is done It is necessary to make the educational community aware of the importance of environmental education, understood as the critical reflection and transforming action of human beings in their relationship with the environment. This is how the Manuel Ruíz Álvarez Educational Establishment began a process which seeks to contribute to the strengthening of the teaching of environmental education in the institution. This initiative takes into account the social environment in which the school is immersed, a vulnerable population, with the presence of a large population in conditions of displacement and the existence of multiple social problems. The project has to become a hotbed of the new environmental citizenship of the country. Therefore, in this context, through art and culture, it is intended to modify the conception of the environment, with practical actions that aim at meaningful learning for students The main objective of this research is to contribute to the teaching of environmental education in the educational community, using the design and implementation of a pedagogical strategy for the management of solid waste with 8th grade students of the Institution; As a first measure, it became pertinent to design a characterization instrument and record observations through a field diary. Likewise, the development of a workshop on awareness, use and reuse of solid waste. This activity will focus on the participants, through their experiences, knowledge and doubts, taking ownership of environmental reflections, with the concepts and methodologies to be applied in real life. The research will be developed from a qualitative ethnographic and participatory approach, which will allow researchers to approach the descriptive nature of the problem, studying the characterization of the educational community, its values, its beliefs, its motivations, its desires, its forms of social interaction to lead to understand the meaning of the actions of the participants and to build knowledge.
