Sede Bogotá., ) Rentería Celi, Yenni; Madrid Ramírez, Edgar; Bohorquez Pacheco, Sandra PatriciaThis research focuses its attention on proposing pedagogical strategies to strengthen the critical analytical capacity in the areas of mathematics and social sciences of high school students of the educational institution alfredo posada correa municipality of pradera - valle. For this, we took into account the development of critical-analytical skills from the self-perception of students and methodological strategies implemented in the areas under study. The research is descriptive and propositional with a mixed approach. The survey and the interview were used as information collection techniques, using a questionnaire on individual generic skills proposed by Olivares (2013), a questionnaire on pedagogical strategies implemented by teachers and a semi-structured interview with students, the latest instruments designed by researchers and evaluated by experts. These instruments were applied to 79 high school students and 8 teachers in the areas of social sciences and mathematics of high school. Based on the results obtained, it was possible to establish that low and medium level students prevail in processes associated with analysis, interpretation, evaluation and inference; similarly, the use of common methodological strategies in the areas studied was identified, as well asa clear trend depending on the conceptual field, with the expositional and debate types being highlighted in the areas of social sciences while in mathematics the learning based on problems and the representation of concepts stand out. In this way, this research shows the need to generate joint pedagogical strategies that can strengthen the cognitive processes of students, through which actions such as: analyze, assess, deduce, interpret, evaluate and argue, among others, that lead to improving the quality of education through a comprehensive training that is relevant to the demands of personal and family type that the environment poses
