Sede Bogotá., ) Machado Páez, Johana Estela; Muñoz Alarcón, Eileen Johana; Jiménez Jiménez, William AlejandroThis research was developed within the framework of legal psychology, which aimed to identify if an adolescent offender of the law who is in a resocialization process has cognitive distortions and family, social and cultural factors that may have caused or predisposed to the commission of the crime, information that will be confirmed through the application of the Questionnaire of Thoughts Hollon and Kendall's (1980) Automatic Thoughts Inventory and Ruiz and Lujan (1991), along with a semi-structured interview model. This investigation It was a qualitative design, set to a single case study and the data collection method information was the triangulation of data. The sample consisted of a 17-year-old adolescent male offender of the law that currently has a judicial process, which has been deprived of liberty and this linked to a resocialization program. From the application of the inventory of automatic thoughts cognitive distortions were found to most frequently they were fallacy of divine reward, should and catastrophic vision. In relation to the Hollon and Kendall test (1980) found a significant score in the variable maladjustment and self-reproach. After analyzing the information collected, we found that the relationship between cognitive distortions and the crime is evidenced in his criminal act since manages erroneous thoughts from childhood generating a maladaptive schema where family and social backgrounds, poor academic performance, economic conditions and lack of motivation, influenced the cognitive development of the subject
