The objective of this research is to enhance emotional intelligence in boys and girls in the eighth grade of the Central IE of integrated high school in Jamundí. To do this, a playful strategy is designed that allows students to improve their communication skills and the management of their emotions; Therefore, within the school context, the following question is formulated: How to strengthen the emotional intelligence of the 8th grade students of the central educational institution of integrated high school in the municipality of Jamundí, using Colombian folk dance as a playful strategy? The methodology of the study focuses on a qualitative approach, with an IAP Research model, which allows active intervention in the processes of appropriation of learning starting from a real context, from the perspective of what they know, what they learn and what they achieve. make. In addition, it invites to transform the pedagogical practices that enhance the development of emotional intelligence. The study concluded with the analysis of the results that show progress in the management of students' emotions, particularly in coexistence with others. Finally, it is suggested to implement the proposal in other grades, as a tool that contributes to improving the quality of education of the educational institution.
