- ÍtemCaracterización y clasificación de un grupo de estudiantes a partir de algunas variables demográficas, sociales y de rendimiento académico.(Fundación Universitaria Los Libertadores. Sede Bogotá., ) Lopez Santana, Evidelio; Gonzalez Veloza., Jose John FredyAccording to the Ministry of National Education, hereinafter MEN (2005), it can be stated that the educational process of a student depends on the relationship of many variables that intervene jointly and continuously in their daily role. Determining how these variables influence the educational process can provide keys to educational institutions and family environments when taking actions that lead to academic success and reduce school failure in students. Currently there are multiple variables that affect the performance and academic development of students. As mentioned by B. Toro (1995), success or failure in the educational process does not depend solely on internal motivational variables of each student, nor on studying more or less. This success also depends on having the necessary conditions for effective and happy learning. It is in this search for favorable conditions for the educational process that social, cognitive and emotional variables intervene and that are classified according to Garbanzo (2007) in three categories: personal, social and institutional determinants. These variables will have the particularity of accompanying and affecting the student's process continuously and jointly. As the author refers, affectation that is often known as academic performance. Academic performance, being multicausal, involves an enormous explanatory capacity of the different variables that intervene in the learning process.
