Sede Bogotá., ) Guerra Moreno, Jorge Nelson; Rengifo Guerrero, ElizabethTaking into account that the current ethical-normative, and environmental performance of the tanning activity in the San Benito neighborhood, in the south west of Bogotá, builds a socio-environmental problem originating, as observed in habits and customs, practiced and allowed in the exercise, apparently of a freedom without responsibility, whose degree of affectation not only includes human life but also non-human life. In the first place, by means of a theoretical approach, the problem of tanneries concentrated in the San Benito neighborhood of Bogotá is analyzed, which affect the environment and its preservation. As part of this environment, the role of institutions and organizations as promoters of the rules of the game and their consequences on the environmental problems of the area is analyzed. Finally, it is concluded that organizations such as the District Secretary for the Environment (SDA) do not fully comply with the task of exercising control and surveillance in compliance with the regulations in the area, therefore, the organizations do not show continuous interest in promote rules of the game that allow the adoption of measures that are beneficial to all. This research work aims to carry out, from an approach to the ethical approach of Hans Jonás, seen in his book the principle of responsibility, an evaluative consideration of the environment that allows to present the bases of a present and future ethical responsibility of this productive activity of the sector, since the ethics proposed by Jonás favors doing a bioethics that from the environmental point of view, works for the permanence and continuity of the life of nature and of humanity in the end, some possible practical solutions or guidelines are proposed valuable to this valuable activity. Much of the pollution generated by the tannery industry is due to the lack of training in the use of resources and inputs used in production processes; This situation applies to the vast majority of the tanneries of Villa Pinzón and Chocontá. This document contains the research carried out on the most important environmental problem in the sector, since tanning companies dump large amounts of wastewater with insufficient treatment into the Bogotá River in order to evaluate this impact
