Sede Bogotá., ) España Herran, Tatiana Lucia; Rengifo Guerrero, ElizabethIt is evident that Colombian students perceive reading as a boring and forced activity, typical of academic work, as reflected in the results in reading comprehension in national and international tests. This same scenario is occurring in the Santa Cruz Educational Institution, Lorica, Córdoba, where 94% of its students do not read any book other than those assigned in class. This problem must be addressed without any doubt by innovative strategies that promote the creation, increase and reinforcement of the reading habit in primary school; for which it is sought to implement the strategy to promote the reading habit "Playing a story, a story." The methodology used consists of selecting a sample made up of approximately 50 third grade students and the teachers who work in the group. The type of research is descriptive - purposeful. For which a work plan consisting of three stages will be established, at the end of these stages, it will be possible to conclude if the strategy used is effective in promoting reading and, therefore, in creating a reading habit, which should be reflected in increasing reading comprehension, expanding vocabulary, improving spelling and, increasing the results of the knowledge tests in critical reading. In order to define if the strategy can be applied in the other degrees of the institution.
