Sede Bogotá., ) Torres Espitia, Yael Del Socorro; De La Ossa, Gladis Del Carmen; Medrano, Rosa Elena; Sánchez Suárez, OscarThe following research aimed to implement the reading of discontinuous texts to improve the reading comprehension of sixth grade students of basic secondary education of the "Arenoso" Educational Institution of the municipality of Planeta Rica Córdoba. A qualitative study of Action Research is used in the methodological framework, the sample was 20 grade 6 students to whom the survey instrument was applied to evaluate the level of understanding of the participants. The results showed that 85% of the participants presented problems in reading comprehension. This indicates that students have been presenting gaps in the learning process, especially in the area of humanities. At the conclusion of this research, the different strategies used with students in the classroom to improve reading comprehension and therefore strengthen learning are highlighted.
