Sede Bogotá., ) Castro Cárdenas, Sonia; Guzmán Orjuela, Rita CristinaThe objective of this research work is to strengthen the reading competence of first-grade students at the Simón Rodríguez educational institution in the city of Santiago de Cali, through a pedagogical proposal based on the reading of children's literature texts that promote the development autonomous learning and a love of reading. This The objective responds to the need for pedagogical intervention to contribute to the transformation of practices in school and thus guarantee an improvement in the reading competence of students from the initial grades of schooling. To carry it out, specific activities are proposed around selected children's literature texts and the use of the school library, under the constructivist pedagogical framework and an interactive reading strategy. The approach of this study is qualitative, with an action research strategy, in accordance with the specific objectives set. The information collection techniques are: observation, using the field diary as an essential instrument for recording; semi-structured interviews; initial test to characterize the students' reading competence and final test that demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposal; all of the above validated by experts. The investigation is carried out in four phases: Identification of the problematic situation or statement of the problem; preparation of an action plan; development of the action plan and collection of data on its implementation and finally, reflection. The information is triangulated to act in each phase and give way to conclusions and recommendations.

Initially, it takes carried out a diagnostic evaluation of the current state of reading competence in each of the learners; then, a selection of the written texts of children's literature is made with the which recreational and educational activities are planned that contribute to the improvement of said competition. This selection is made taking into account the information and recommendations of some magazines specializing in children's and youth literature. Finally, it appears as As a result of this proposal, the design of activities aimed at strengthening the reading competence in a simple and pertinent lesson plan format, which the teacher commonly used in your institution. This lesson plan revolves around the written texts as cultural instruments that provoke in children pleasure, attraction and guarantee their inclusion in the fabulous world of reading, in addition, this design shows the integration of playful and educational activities that make reading a pleasant process, different, fun, that is related to other cultural and artistic manifestations and that not only affects on satisfactory academic results, but on the success of students in this society currently lawyer.
