Sede Bogotá., ) Carabali Belalcázar, Yudi; Lozano Muñoz, Martha Cecilia; Popó Peña, Luz Ceny; Paeres Aguirre, Ana MaríaThe objective of this research is to establish the characteristics of the game as a didactic strategy that can favor the development of mathematical thinking in fourth grade students of the I.E. José María Córdoba, so that a pedagogical proposal is elaborated. The study is qualitative from the action research (AR) perspective, considering the three phases proposed for this type of research, executing phases 1 and 2, thus generating a didactic sequence that links the game as a strategy in the classroom. Fourth grade students participated in the study sample, specifically the 4-1 group, which has 26 students between 9 and 11 years old. The instruments used were a semi-structured interview with the teachers, an entrance or diagnostic test presented by the students and a didactic sequence made up of 3 games for the development of mathematical thinking, the latter is a proposal that is left raised. The investigation allowed to establish that the game has characteristics that make it attractive for children, generating motivation to participate in them, in addition, it allows the student to experiment, solve problems, apply strategies, and reflect. On the other hand, it stimulates mathematical processes that allow the development of concepts, skills, and competencies in the area.
