Sede Bogotá., ) Cala Rey, María Robinson; Jaimes Barrera, Olga Lucia; Benavides Benavides, Delis Irene; Conde Trujillo, Angélica María; Alonso González, Julián AndrésThis proposal has the purpose of improving the reading and writing process of children aged 8 to 9 years of the Rural Educational Center Meseta San Rafael located in rural area of the city of Barrancabermeja, according to research is developed through the methodology of qualitative approach and action research method; In this process, techniques and instruments were applied such as: observation, field diaries, methodological accompaniment of the teacher in charge and a workshop was applied to determine their level of literacy. It is there where the different needs of students in terms of literacy are known and among the most relevant difficulties stands out the apathy to reading, low level of calligraphy and spelling, poor reading comprehension and poor text production; which has been reflected in the different assessments that were made in different subjects, in which they obtained low academic performance due to lack of good literacy and obtaining low results in tests applied by the Ministry of Education. Therefore, the need arose to carry out a project that will promote and develop these skills, applying playfulness as an important strategy for the human being in his daily life, for this and other reasons it is part of better understanding the knowledge and literacy that surrounds him in a practical way activating more and more the learning process. In this way, the application of strategies applied in the game allows to change the methodological process and formalize planned actions, which respond to the interests and needs of third grade students, which contribute to the improvement of quality in primary basic education of the Rural Educational Center Meseta San Rafael.
