This can be due to many factors that can be linked to the production possibilities of each country, the technification of the harvest, communication between producers and distributors, deficiencies in the storage or consumer customs rooted in culture. The above does of the problem of food waste something extremely complex that requires a global approach to begin to obtain bottom-line results. In Colombia, more than 9 million tons of food are wasted per year, of of which 6.1 million tons correspond to fruits and vegetables; these figures are extremely alarming, especially when understanding that a large percentage of the population of our country lives with nutrition problems.
