The methodology used is qualitative, which allowed us to explore the reason for this situation. Reading competence is one of the most important domains in the academic training that subjects receive in their educational process, which, beyond putting letters together and literal comprehension, allows them to interpret and create writings, use them and reflect on them to fulfill a variety of purposes. Therefore, it is necessary to design a proposal that makes it possible to impact, not only the students involved, but also their parents and teachers responsible for their academic training, in order to create awareness about the importance of reading and to generate new ones. mechanisms, based on play, that contribute to the improvement of their reading performance.
