The topic of ”failure analysis”began to have important when experience and logic emerge that, in an industrial aspect, it is not feasible to have many elements of the same type to be replacements, but to find the reason for the causes that lead to the failure of said elements. In order to arrive at the result that responds to the basis of this research, it is based on the use of metallographic tools, hardness and observation equipment, to determine the hardness and analyze the micro-structure of the material with which the pinion is manufactured, subsequently by means of a visual inspection it was obtained as a result that the analyzed piece fails due to fatigue, and that this type of failure occurs in the piece due to the cracks generated by the different wear mechanisms, these cracks being the ones that start the fatigue on the tooth of the pinion and that ends with the sudden fracture of the tooth.(Apartes del texto)

El tema “análisis de falla” empezó´ a tener importancia cuando la experiencia y la lógica emergen que, en un aspecto industrial, no es viable disponer de muchos elementos del mismo tipo para ser reemplazos, sino encontrar el porqué de las causas que llevan a la falla de dichos elementos. Para llegar al resultado que responde al fundamento de esta investigación, se toma como base el uso de herramientas metalográficas, equipos de dureza y la observación, para determinar la dureza y analizar la micro-estructura del material con el que está fabricado el piñón, posteriormente por medio de una inspección visual se obtuvo como resultado que la pieza analizada falla por fatiga, y que este tipo de falla se presenta en la pieza debido a las grietas generadas por los distintos mecanismos de desgaste, siendo estas grietas las que dan inicio a la fatiga sobre el diente del piñón y que termina con la fractura súbita del diente.” (Apartes del texto)
