dc.descriptionIn the present study was assessed the effect of ¨social¨ facilitation and ¨social¨ interference in a situation of food intake in groups of rats of 2 to 8 members. The analyzed measurements were the differential weight, time of intake and rate of intake. There was fitted to a power function and to a linear function to the data of each measurement. The best fit to the data was determined with the explained variance level (R2). It was observed that the power function had a greater explained variance for the differential weight and time of intake. Nevertheless, in the intake rate, the function that best described the trend of the data was linear one. Additionally, when the trend of this last measurement was analyzed, the magnitudes of the effects of facilitation and interference were determined, complementing the information obtained from other measurements. Lastly, the results obtained had coincidence with the reports of Castro & Brewer (1992) in a study of feeding with humans. The paper emphasizes that in situations of collective feeding, the type of analyzed measurements may give rise to different trend of data but its interpretation has to be reviewed based on its particular characteristics.en-US
dc.descriptionEn el presente estudio se evaluó el efecto de facilitación “social” e interferencia “social” en una situación de consumo de alimento con grupos de ratas, de 2 a 8 miembros. Las medidas analizadas fueron el diferencial de peso, el tiempo de consumo y la tasa de consumo. A los datos de cada medida se ajustó una función de poder y una función lineal. El mejor ajuste a los datos fue determinado a partir del nivel de varianza explicada (R2). Se apreció que para el diferencial de peso y el tiempo de consumo la función de poder tuvo una varianza explicada mayor. Sin embargo, para la tasa de consumo la función que mejor describió la tendencia de los datos fue la lineal. Adicionalmente, al analizar la tendencia de esta última medida se determinaron las magnitudes de los efectos de facilitación e interferencia, complementando la información obtenida a partir de otras medidas. Por último, los resultados obtenidos fueron coincidentes a los reportados de Castro & Brewer (1992) en un estudio de alimentación con humanos. El trabajo enfatiza que en situaciones de alimentación colectiva el tipo de medida analizada puede dar lugar a diferentes tendencias de datos y su interpretación debe ser revisada con base en la naturaleza de las mismas.es-ES
