In this way, to develop the research, the opinions of 23 students aged 19 to 26 belonging to the Advertising and Marketing, Social Communication- Journalism and Graphic Design programs were collected, in order to know and identify the type of television content that they prefer, the different digital platforms they visualize and the knowledge and interaction they present in front of said audiovisual products. Thus, the results are presented divided into two chapters, where each of them responds to the specific objectives raised throughout the investigation. Therefore, the first chapter entitled Impact of educational and cultural television Vs commercial television, covers the category of analysis 'Educational and cultural television' and its respective subcategories, which are: Culture related to the television context and Television as an educational instrument, thus, as the category 'Study of television audiences, tastes and preferences' and the subcategory of commercial television and television consumption in young people. On the other hand, the argumentation of the proposed hypothesis is developed, where it is suggested that "university audiences between 19 and 26 years old prefer to consume commercial television or other audiovisual platforms in front of educational and cultural television". Also, commercial television is understood and the reasons why it comes to generate greater recall, visibility and impact. The second chapter, called The metamorphosis of television in the middle of the digital age, is oriented to the category 'Media consumption in young people', taking into account digital platforms. In addition, the evolution of television, technological development, and the adaptation of new formats in audiovisual platforms are exposed. Likewise, it is analyzed how Information Technology - IT, has fully captured the attention of young people, causing them to migrate from traditional media such as television, radio and press to digital platforms such as Netflix, YouTube, social networks, and, in general, the internet. Under the previous premise, based on the opinions of the group of university students selected to develop this research, it was defined what is that pattern of media consumption that young people follow today, especially those who are pursuing a university career, as well as He established the reason for his preferences, whether televised or on any other audiovisual platform. Therefore, digital platforms and the current boom, especially among young people, were also addressed, the evolution and transformation that television is going through today. In this sense, the research has a qualitative approach and the methodological design is based on the case study, this, from three main categories, which are: Educational and cultural television, Study of television audiences and Media consumption in young people. In order to develop the research work, the data were obtained through interviews with a sample of 20 students and a discussion group composed of 6 university students.
