Sede Bogotá., ) Bonilla Martínez, Sonia María; Gómez Córdoba, Reineria; Nocua Sarmiento, Efraín AlonsoThrough the application of a diagnostic test it showed that students have multiple flaws when it comes to reading and writing, such as: confusing some graphemes and phonemes of the Spanish alphabet, that is, adding or subtracting letters to words or changing them instead; they do not handle the correct use of consonant problems, they demonstrate laziness to read and write, and thus they have difficulty harnessing these basic language competences. If this situation continues, 4th grade students will lose their lack of motivation to read, resulting in low academic performance, loss of the school year, school dropout. For this reason, its purpose is to: Develop a playful - didactic proposal to improve reading and writing in students of the 4th grade of primary school at the San Antonio de Padua Educational Institution in the municipality of Vigía del Fuerte. The type of study is qualitative, with a descriptive approach, it consists in evaluating certain characteristics of the reading and writing deficiencies of 4th grade students. As a result of reading, the following results were obtained: 70% of the students are in the instructional level, since their percentages of reading are between 10 and 50% with respect to the parameters established to measure the results of the test. 27% are at an independent level, since their percentages range between 51% and 70% and 3% reach the potential level. In writing: 27% of the students, their writing was illegible, unsuccessful attempt to reproduce the sentence, 43% of the students present certain linked, some letters identifiable, 7% use letters identifiable by certain distinctive features, linked more elaborated that in the previous level and 23% makes adequate organization of the writing, firm, complete, legible layout.
