Sede Bogotá., ) Abella Hernández, Adriana Arlena; Atis Ruíz, Francy Tatiana; Pantoja, Mauricio; Soto, Joan; Venegas, RocióThe main objective of this research is to understand the social representations (SR) of a group of 9 people diagnosed with cancer in the city of Bogotá, of which 6 of them are between 12 to 18 years old and 3 people over 50 years old; the foregoing against two phenomena such as illness and death; This disease is understood according to the World Health Organization (WHO) as "A process of uncontrolled growth of cells" generating a series of physical, social and emotional ailments, which accounts for in the narratives collected through semi- structured interviews obtaining as a result that Cancer is represented and understood as a deadly disease, which breaks into the daily life of those who suffer from it and finally, together with its treatment, generates physical and emotional affectation for each patient and for their families and support networks.
